Cryptoland

An online centralised cryptocurrency exchange

In 2020, Cryptoland was one of the most popular cryptocurrency platforms in Iran. Users could deposit Iranian Rials and purchase various tokens on the website. A mobile app is also provided for easier access for frequent users to buy and sell faster and easier from anywhere.

User Research

After gathering user data and conducting extensive interviews, three user personas were created, each with different trading experiences and investing strategies. With the help of tools such as user journey mapping, pain points we identified, and priorities were set. Interviews with the stakeholders and backend developers unearthed severe problems with the onboarding, buying & selling process. Card sorting exercises were carried out to re-order the website’s architecture, and other exchanges were closely analysed to see how these problems could be solved.
Onboarding user journey

The Problem

Designing an online cryptocurrency exchange requires many considerations and is not simple. Everything from the onboarding and KYC process to depositing and withdrawing and buying and selling had to be designed meticulously. To make the problems harder, I had to take into consideration the website’s double currency (IRR and Dollar) nature so it would make sense for the users.
