Proda
Communication tower maintenance project management app
Proda is the internal app that allows NAK technicians to follow the process of examining and repairing base transceiver stations (BTS) for MCI Telecom. Technicians found the following BTS site they had to visit in the app, and after visiting the station, they reported problems. Supervisors then looked at the details and photos provided by the technicians to decide what action had to be taken.
The Problem
The main challenge in the design was providing each step in the rigorous back-and-forth process that felt intuitive to the technicians. The complex process of technicians finding and reporting problems to their supervisors and the actions of the supervisors made the design challenging. After many sketches and ideas, a solution was reached that would be easy to understand and work with.
The Solution
The process of reporting problems and supervisors reviewing the information was put to the test many times with different designs. The final product was a purely functional app used by technicians, so a lot of effort was put into designing a straightforward process.
